About the Photographer
Where to begin? Originally from Pittsburgh, PA, I currently live in the Washington DC metro area. I am a driven and passionate individual, with just a bit of a rebellious streak, and was originally trained as a web and graphic designer. In 2005, I enrolled in art school to fine-tune my natural artistic talents, and it was during this time I was given a Canon A530 point-and-shoot for a photography project, and I instantly fell in love with photography. I eventually went on to earn a degree in Visual Communication in 2007.
After graduation — one of six people in my class to make it through the program — my first job out of art school was as an eLearning graphic designer for a Department of Defense contractor in Johnstown, PA. Five years (and one divorce later) I moved to the DC area. I still design training and eLearning for the US government, working for the Department of Justice.
In all the years since I first picked up that point-an-shoot, my love of photography never faded. As I have acquired better gear through the years, eventually moving onto full-frame mirrorless, my love has only grown stronger. So much so, that when I’m working, I think of photography; when I’m at home, I think of photography; when I’m shooting photography, I’m thinking of photography…. It has become a passion I want to explore as fully as possible.
Apart from photography, I am a father to an awesome 16yo son, who I don’t get to see enough, and I enjoy camping, hiking and flight simulator.
I am a bit of an introvert, but I am hoping to connect with other photographers who will inspire me, and help me to learn.
